Abstract

While token-based business models are going through a fast cycle of emergence to a conclusion, the Blockchain, as a tamper-resistant distributed ledger with many other promising features, has always been attractive and its technologies are evolving. This talk describes the Blockchain use case research, such as the collective intelligence for road safety with AI and Blockchain, the DAG-based DLT for secure BGP routing, etc. Given the lessons from this research, this talk also explores the opportunities and challenges to make the Blockchain future-proof.

Prof. Kotaro Kataoka

Kotaro Kataoka received his PhD in Media and Governance from Keio University in 2010. He served as a project assistant professor at Keio University to execute a joint research collaboration between Japan and India called ”DISANET” between 2010 and 2012. He shifted to Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad as a visiting faculty as well as a JICA expert to further accelerate India-Japan collaboration from 2012 to 2019. Currently,he is an associate professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. His research interests include Internet Architecture, and Blockchain.
