Biography
Michal Minarcik is a Ph.D. candidate at Aarhus University, Denmark, and a researcher at the Blockchain Center at the University of Zurich (UZH). From February to July 2026, he was a visiting Ph.D. student at the Blockchain Center and the Department of Finance at UZH, hosted by Claudio J. Tessone and Thorsten Hens.
His research examines how decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) and smart contracts change the parameters of principal-agent problems in corporate governance. In particular, his papers study how agency conflicts in token-financed ventures evolve as they transition to decentralized tokenholder governance; how dual-class governance in DAOs, where voting rights are locked and non-transferable, affects the price informativeness of tokens; and how exit options discipline DAO governance.
Before starting his Ph.D., he earned a B.Sc. in Economics and Business Administration and an M.Sc. in Economics with a profile in Finance from the University of Southern Denmark, including a semester as a credit transfer student at Copenhagen Business School
