DAWO 25

June 23-24, 2025, Zurich, Switzerland

Organized by the UZH Blockchain Center with ZHAW

DAOs are a rapidly growing phenomena, and the importance of these new organizational structures is only going to increase over the next years with the further adoption of blockchain technology. Research on how to build more inclusive and democratic systems representing cooperative values needs more consideration and DAWO is a testbed for continues conversation.

The 2-day workshop brings together researchers examining the potential of DAOs, leveraging a culture of participation to fosters innovation and knowledge transfer between academics to advance DAO as a new organizational structure. We expect that the workshop yields a variety of novel research opportunities, which will set a basis for continuous collaboration among participants of the workshop.

The second edition of the European DAO Workshop (DAWO) will take place on June 23rd/24th 2025 in Zurich, Switzerland and aims to explore the challenges and opportunities of Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs).

Other topics in distributed ledger technologies will also be considered in the spirit of the above. Authors are invited to enter submissions describing original, previously unpublished work, not currently under review by another conference, workshop, or journal. Only PDF files will be accepted for the review process.

Submission Types

There are two types of submissions. Which type of contribution you will submit will depend on what you are hoping to get out of the DAO workshop. At least one author of each accepted submission is expected to register for DAWO25 to give a presentation.

  1. Full paper
    • Will give you the chance to have a full paper published in the Springer Proceedings in Business and Economics.
    • Full papers should not exceed 14 pages, excluding references and appendices, and must use the Springer templates as provided below.
  2. Abstract-Only
    • Will give you the opportunity to present new ideas at the workshop at an early stage of a research project.
    • Abstract submissions should not extend 500 words and are based on intended research.

Submission Instructions

Abstract Submission

There is no specific format required for the abstract submission. In particular, abstracts are not subject to an anonymized peer-review process. The conference committee will make a selection considering quality of the research, but also other factors such as the diversity of speakers and topics.

Full Paper Submission

DAWO25 uses a double-blind review process for full papers; author names and affiliations should not appear in the submission and authors should make a reasonable effort not to reveal their identities or institutional affiliation. Full papers that do not comply with these guidelines will be rejected without review.

All full papers must use the templates (Springer) provided. Only submission with their source file (word / LaTex) and PDF file will be accepted for the review process.

The workshop proceedings will be published by Springer.

All manuscripts (abstracts and full papers) need to be uploaded through the EasyChair portal.

Conflict of Interest

Authors and DAWO committee members are required to indicate any possible conflicts of interest. Potential conflicts of interest include:

– advisor-advisee relationships, at any time
– professional collaborations, employer/employee relationships
– co-authorship within the past 5 years
– current institutional conflicts
– or close personal relationships.
